In the small town of Hammercliffe Peak, something has gone seriously wrong—and the townspeople and the law are afraid of the Keller brothers.
After joining the Navy, Mark Hazard rarely returned home. Now, with his younger brother Owen’s senseless and tragic death, Mark has come back to pay his respects.
Riley Brook is beside himself because Mark has returned, and he still has the same feelings for Mark as he did at the age of eleven. Riley did some moving around as well, but found himself back in Hammercliffe Peak having done well for himself, earning a degree which enabled him to start his own business, the Hammercliffe Peak Pub. But times are dark after his friend Owen’s murder. And Riley has some vital information.
When Mark and Riley finally have time to reminisce and get reacquainted, they find they have more than Owen in common. As things heat up between them, vengeance does too, and Riley is put in danger.
Thom Collins has created a well written short story with a somewhat dark plot, as well as suspense and danger. The connection between Riley and Mark has both angst and chemistry, and the Keller brothers’ portrayal is evil and mean and nasty. If you’re looking for a good short thriller, Gods of Vengeance is worth the read.
