Another inspiring story of survivors of Auschwitz. I went through a lot of emotions reading this - shock, happiness and sadness.

Janny and Lien put so much at risk trying to help those who were being hunted by the Nazis. I honestly thought their own time was up at different parts throughout their story.

It must have been amazing to move into 'The High Nest' knowing what the 2 sisters did for people while they lived their with their families.

A.k.a. The Sisters of Auschwitz: The True Story of Two Jewish Sisters' Resistance in the Heart of Nazi Territory. Mandatory read for anybody who is interested in what Nazi targets had to endure during World War II in an occupied country. Having read and seen enough about the subject, I didn't expect to be heavily affected by it and there were times when I actually scolded them for being reckless, but it still packed a punch. A powerful one. A knock-out.

Never forget.

Very choppy and hard to follow. Lots of names mentioned with very little context. Educational since it’s a true story, but difficult to read.

An extremely immersive and heartbreaking story the impact that this specific house and these sisters had on people's lives, giving them hope when there was little around them, and showing how much of an impact the war holds on everybody. You can definitely tell that Roxane Van Iperen wanted to be as honest and authentic as possible and it is clear that she did her research thoroughly to give this house and these sisters their own voice.
