Although Mullarkey remains one of the most innovative and imaginative of contemporary playwrights, this short experimental piece doesn't work on paper, and doubt it fares much better in performance. Not even the most skillful actor could convey the 'stage directions' (more accurately, stream-of-consciousness thoughts) in the first half, and though the second act monologue is effective, it doesn't really stand sufficiently on its own merits.
