This was my first James Patterson book, as well as my first adult crime novel. While it didn't blow my mind, it has definitely made me a fan of the genre. I've always loved true crime, so I don't know why it's taking me so long to finally read a crime novel. But I'm glad I finally did!

Two other teachers and I read this book with our high school book club...it was terrible, With a quick skim, I had my fill. One of my biggest annoyances with Patterson is his constant dropping of pop culture proper nouns. Ick.

If you have a couple of hours to kill and have nothing better to do than the book is ok. It is a quick read. That's about the only positive thing going for this book. The characters have no depth. Just because you give the main character a life threatening illness doesn't give them depth or make them likeable, realistic, relatable, or any thing else like that. I think Patterson should stick to male leads because he isn't very good at writing the female perspective.

I orginally started with the 11th book and decided to read the whole series. In spots had my laughing and then crying. I'm glad I decided to start the series.
