Stuck through this book because Iā€™m otherwise enjoying the series, but the characters and even the writing in this one is a bit of a mess compared to the previous books. Charity and Devon and incredibly immature, and thereā€™s a shit ton of sexism going on between the side characters. Lots of odd word choices (gal and dame used by college kids?!), and overall clunky writing. Will be skipping the next Warrior Fae book to get back to Raegan.

Loved it. Better characters and plot. I hope it holds for all 3 books.

Original and Exciting

Itā€™s hard to come up with fresh and creative ideas for urban fantasy books with the abundance flooding the market. KF Breene is a fantastic writer and continuously writes books you wonā€™t want to put down.

This continues her DDVN books, introducing Charity to her readers. Charity has a rough introduction to the supernatural and finds herself encountering vampires, shifters, and more. She also must go through her own process of self discovery.

I enjoy the reintroduction of characters from previous DDVN books and how all their storylines intertwine. Canā€™t wait to read book 2!

Another fast paced, monster filled adventure

K. F. Breene managed to pull me out of a reading funk with this one. Her novels are full of fast, fabulous action and main characters who, despite their magical origins and futures, have real, believable problems I was able to connect with.
I enjoyed the relationship between Charity and Devon around the middle of the novel when they stopped actually fighting and started almost getting along. I did think the declaration at the end of the novel was a little premature but I enjoyed how their relationship progressed otherwise.
I hope we see a little more of Yasmin and her back story beyond the sex kitten, trouble maker stereotype. I loved the rest of the pack and am curious about the hugely magical cast introduced towards the end of the book. May have to invest in her other series as well!

This is more 3.5 stars than 4.
Something was bugging me about this book, Amazon lists it as #7 but its #1 on GR so thats slightly irritating I assume this is part of a spin off series. Which is fine but that isn't clear.

I like the whole idea of this but it just felt very half arsed. Shes meant to be a warrior but she spends a lot of time having emotional breakdowns. Fine she won't be used to all this yet as shes just learnt about it but come on!

Also what the heck is this part?!
ā€œDid you just compliment me on my appearance and body, give me a verbal high five for being a slut, ask me to have quiet sex, and then opt for earplugs assuming I probably wouldnā€™t? Did all that come out of your mouth within the space of thirty seconds?ā€ He narrowed his eyes. ā€œYou are a girl, right? Because usually girls are not this cool.ā€

I think I'll read the next book but I'm not completely sure just yet when that'l be.

Books 7 and 8 of the Demon Days & Vampire Nights series is also books 1 and 2 of the Warrior Fae series. I kind of like the fact that this series actually weaves together three series that, ultimately, are interconnected into the same overall story arc. All three series starts with a main protagonist that are about to learn that she is special and has a lot of magical power. I do like those kind of stories.

I was a bit miffed when I learned, at the start of the second sub-series, that it was about another main protagonist than the first three books. I had gotten very found of the very kick-ass bounty hunter from the first books. However, the way the author weaves together the stories makes all characters are quite present throughout the books.

The main protagonist is yet another woman. She is kind of between the swearing and ass-kicking one from the first sub-series and the more timid one from the second one. I did like her and she doesnā€™t spout out ludicrously silly phrases every time normal people would curse.

The books are nicely written and, as usual, the characters are interesting and likable. The good ones at least. As with the previous books thereā€™s mysteries, discoveries, a few twists and a good amount of magical action which usually ends up with the bad guys having a really bad day.

The author does go overboard with the detailed intimate moments though. A bit of romance, fine. Urban porn I can be without.

Overall, good books though. Definitely above average without really managing to reach that wow great level.

A bit different

This one was a bit different from the two other Demon Days, Vampire Nights series. A bit hard...not as light hearted and fun as the others, but still quite enjoyable. Iā€™m looking forward to read the next book.
