A Certain Hunger by Chelsea G. Summers

When I began to read this book, I thought it was pretentious. Sometimes I'd try to read it, reach the 50-page mark, and stop.  But then, I went, 'I need to clean out the books I haven't read', and, surprise, finished it quite quickly.
My thoughts range on this book. I enjoyed how it was told in a splice-by-splice fashion, going between past and present, and how much food-testing Summers must have done.

Meanwhile, something I have thought of when reading, is how well a little bit more subtlety would have been for this book. Sometimes, books blatantly say their themes out loud, and speak of them more than they show them. I would have thought it more clean and finely-cut if things like male authority and the like were shown more than spoken of, and the circumstances that our culture entails.
Overall, it's about 4/5 stars. Enjoyed the food rants, but not everyone will.

I understand why this book is considered a horror story because of the cannibalism aspect, but I have never really seen cannibalism as a big taboo, so I was not that scared.
Still a good book, though
