An immediately intuitive metaphor is taken to great lengths to help us understand and grapple with the modern state and its many facets. Laursen argues that the racism, sexism, homophobia, and transphobia we find in modern is society is "a feature, not a bug" of the State. Laursen ultimately points to possible areas for non-hierarchical organizing in preparation for a broader revolution that he feels confident is impending, given the many crises the State currently faces and is powerless to address in its current form.
