The characters are all so sad, in every sense of the word. The self-pity of some of them got very annoying. These characters feel as if the author was inspired by Mark Haddon's "A Spot of Bother" but failed to deliver. There's a lot of unnecessary jabs and lack of empathy towards others in the book which I loathed. Even in moments that were almost deep or showed character growth, it was ruined by either the characters themselves and/or the writing style. It's very much a case of "tell don't show."

I didn't like the plot either. It was very cliché and the characters just acted stupid, but not in a cleverly written way. The main character was so passive which made it worse! The only character who I liked to read about now and then was Moira cause she at least showed initiative and kept the story going.

Skip this book. Whatever appeals to you from the description, there's other books which do it better.
 At least it reads quickly.
