It is painful getting through this book. The author continuously repeats herself...and the main character, Ayla, can do no wrong... I find myself skimming...which I NEVER do. The only reason I have not thrown this book into my donation pile is I lived through the last four (which were not that good either) and I want to know what will happen. The idea behind the book and plot were good...the only thing missing is a red pen to correct and delete at least 200 pages from the book.

And done....thank god.

Meh. This book left me wondering what was so interesting about the series to my much younger self. I found it somewhat tedious & rather predictable, but I do like the characters and stuck with it to the end to see how their stories played out.

While I loved the series l, by this book Ayla has become basically Superwoman. I still enjoyed this book but it was getting to much. The series really needs to end now.

This book is the 5th book in the Earth's Children Series and takes place after Ayla and Jondalar finally reach his home the 9th cave. I really enjoyed this book and getting to meet all of Jondalar's family as well other members of the Zelandonii. As always with the books in this series there is a bit too much detail about the area and research about the period but there is more story and focus on the people as well so it is not too much skipping in this book.

Eight years I waited for this book. Twelve years it took for Ms. Auel to write it since book 4. Everything she set up about Ayla meeting Jondolar's people was forgotten, and she finally turned Ayla into a full blown Mary Sue for good. She always had Mary Sue vibes, but she still had at least some struggles. But now she's just good at everything and only the mean, worthless people hated her. Very disappointing. I've thankfully repressed the horrible name she gave their kid.

Terrible early reviews for the final book means I never read it and probably never will since I'd lost interest by the time it came out and the one thing I wanted to happen didn't, so I saw little point in reading it.
