This book started out ok but over time it just seemed to drag on and lost me. I considered DNFing the book but completed so I could participate in a book club discussion.

I feel that this story had a bit of a slow start but it really did pick up and keep the momentum going. I really liked the way this story tackled Gods as characters being impacted by mortality. I think it could have gone a bit deeper into characters and didn’t have to lean so heavily on the repetition of themes from the same surface level, but I enjoyed the world of this story overall.

I like the main character. Life has forced her to be very practical-minded. I enjoy how matter-of-fact she is when faced with challenges along her journey. She and the other main character have great chemistry.

I have mixed feelings about the ending, but overall a great book if you're in the mood for something adventurous/romantic.

A wonderful story that blends mythology with the 1920s fast-paced splendor. Beautifully written, but the plot structure seemed a bit formulaic although this was rescued by Moreno-Garcia’s beautiful writing and how wonderfully realized Casipoea is as a protagonist
