This was great until about 3/4 of the way through. I hit a wall there, and for some reason it lost some of its magic for me. In the end though, its certainly an interesting read and the author is amazing at keying in to feelings you never thought someone could express in writing. Not my favorite, but entertaining.

I AM GIVING THIS A REALLY GENEROUS 2.5 STARS.

Okay, listen up, I might get some hate going into this review, but I legit did not like this book at all.

Going into this book I expected great things! But I was dissapointed.

First off, I hate the main character. (Legit, half the book is "Omigosh I can't fall in love" "Omigosh I'm falling in love" and I HATE that, the Main character in my head is an annoying school girl)

Second off, I hate the love interest.

Third off, half of this dang book is plain out boring!

I usually NEVER give 2 star reviews because I always dismiss problems, but this book was so boring in the middle and towards the end. I'm going to be honest with you, the last 50 pages or so, I started paraphrasing each page so I could finish it and get the book on my Reading Challenge list.

The only character/thing I liked about this book was the best friend of the main character, the rebel chick who is actually kind of B.A. she is the only reason why this review is not getting a one star!

I still have hope for Lauren Oliver though! I really hope to enjoy Panic by her.

I really enjoyed this book I enjoyed how Lena started to fall in love with Alex and how she started realizing that every thing the government was telling them was lies

5 stars is not enough, I loved this book so much. I need to move onto book 2! I immediately googled to find out the major spoiler because it would drive me crazy otherwise. I'm such a 12 year old girl!

INCREDIBLE!!! the concept is so sad though but beautifully written and i have no idea what to expect in the next book. if love were a disease...wow...there'd be no Rumi quotes and that wld b...unthinkable!!!!
"Only from the heart can you touch the sky." Rumi

i think that sums the book up...

2.5/5

Lena is growing up in the United States where love is a disease that is cured around the age of 18. Lena can't wait to get the cure because she saw how love completely wrecked her mother and drove her to suicide. But then she meets Alex.

I honestly don't think I'll be finishing this series. I thought it was a good book but I'm not that interested in where the story is going to go after what happened at the end of this one. I should have been expecting romance because it is a book about love but I just didn't care for that portion of it. And that was a large portion of the book.

+1
This book has been on my to-read shelf for ages and for good reason too. Even after years and years of not reading it, I still thought the book sounded really cool. I wasn't wrong. I love the whole idea of love being a disease. I'm kind of a science nerd so I was looking forward to that part of the story but it wasn't exactly what I was expecting.

+1
I was taking a while to get through this book because it was kind of slow. Even with action scenes, it was slow. However, the ending is so fast-paced and fun that I devoured it in a few days whereas the rest of the book took me about a month to finish. If there's one thing that saved the rating of this book it was definitely the ending.

+.5
I was going to give my love for Alex a full point but then I thought that was kind of ridiculous. But I'm still giving him some points.

-1
The reason why it took me so long to get through this book was because of Lena. I thought she was so annoying. She was absolutely obsessed with Alex. I do love me some Alex but it was to the point of obsession with her and that just got on my nerves. I wanted more of the politics and science of the world wherein love is a disease.

As I said, I didn't love this book. I thought it was ok and that everyone should at least give it a shot but I won't be continuing the series unless the concept of the second book really hooks me.

Again like the Uglies and Blue Bloods, I couldn't get into this one. Maybe sometime in the future, I will try it out again.
