This story was fascinating. Inspector Armand Gamache is searching for a killer in a Quebec abbey where the monks sing Gregorian Chants. It had all the elements that make her books extraordinary: a good murder mystery, knowledge about a subject new to me, and the personal lives of the inspector and his people.

It took me a little to adjust being outside of Three Pines; however, I thoroughly enjoyed the story. Heartbreaking, sad, and yet a somewhat true to life experience with a character struggling with addiction. You can definitely feel the build up and you definitely need to read the books prior to understand everything that’s going on. Definitely worth reading.
Graphic: Cursing
Minor: Addiction
