Not my favorite, maybe just a mood mis-match. Key point of the notes I jotted down, "This is not the character study + satisfying puzzle I came here for.  Who convinced all mystery writers and all tv writers that we need a series bad guy arc in order to keep coming back?  I don't, I swear I don't need it."

Another great Inspector Gamache mystery that completely takes place in an isolated monastery and explores the depths of Gamache and Beauvoir, alone in the wilderness. Heartbreaking and beautiful

This story was fascinating.  Inspector Armand Gamache is searching for a killer in a Quebec abbey where the monks sing Gregorian Chants.  It had all the elements that make her books extraordinary:  a good murder mystery, knowledge about a subject new to me, and the personal lives of the inspector and his people.
