I think I liked this volume a bit more than the first. In part, this may have been because I watched the TV show first and grew attached to Annie, who shows up fairly often in this volume, whereas she rarely appeared in the first. I think the final arc of this volume "We Gotta Go Now" dragged on too long, but otherwise the arcs were interesting, funny, and provided a good portrayal of how superheroes would mess up the world if they were real. My main problem is that I'm now a third of the way through the series, and I only feel attached to 2 of the 5 titular main characters. Hopefully the following volumes will do a better job amending that.

1) This book is insane and definitely pushes the limits of good taste. I enjoy that.

2) The over-arching plot gets a lot deeper and more detailed in this volume and you can see that there's a lot more going on here than just subverting the superhero genre. I love watching a great plot unfold, and this title definitely has a lot more intriguing story to tell.

3) I'm wondering if anyone has done a comparison between this book and Tarantino's films to see who overuses the N-word the most? Because it stops being shocking after a while and just makes it seem like it's being used for that edge-factor. It actually started taking me out of the story a bit and hurt my enjoyment overall. I don't mind the word if it's used properly and with a reasonable purpose that fits the story, but overkill is overkill and Ennis definitely went overkill with it in this book.

I love these omnibuses. The comics are so good to read all the way through, back to back in this format. The development of the characters in this one is great! Hughie is such a dynamic character, with a lot of conflicting morals/values, and it's so interesting to see how the other characters interact with him. I can't wait to see more of Frenchie and the girl. The story so far is a little hard to follow, there's so much history and so many moving parts/organizations, but I'm getting it more as the comics go on. Reading the next omnibus now!
