This series starts of well and gets better by the book.
The style reminds me of classic fantasy, but with a fresh tone and voice to it, and not as predictable as a lot of teh older books are.

The best comparison on my eyes are the Riyria books by Michael J Sullivan, as Andrews also managed to wrote books that are definitely meant for an adult audience, and have high stakes, but doesn't need graphic gore or sex scenes to accomplish that.

The focus is on how things like war affect the characters instead of the actual wounds. So whole there is plenty of action and fighting, it's not at all a grimdark story.

There's death and sorrow in these books, but there's plenty of light and hope to balance it. So you end up with an epic fantasy that is quite a rollercoaster of a story, but in the end leaves you feeling good and well entertained, even of it's not all roses and sunshine, and not everyone makes it to the end.

I love these characters and the banter and friendships between them! So I wholeheartedly recommend this series.

PS the audio bundle is freaking brilliant!

I got this on sale at some point on my Kindle, and I wasn't expecting much from this trilogy, but boy, am I glad I stumbled upon it! I love the idea that Keepers tell stories and guard a whole library, but they can wield magic. It's like the hidden wish of a book nerd like me. I fell in love with the characters and the relationships that were formed between them. The plot was intriguing and held my interest. This trilogy reminds me a lot of Lord of the Rings with the diversity of characters, the complexity of the conflicts, and the range of the adventures.

I need a separate rating system for different kinds of books. ;-) For me, 5 stars is life-changing, and not a lot of fiction books can do that for me.

But having said that, 4 stars for me is a great read for fiction! This trilogy is fabulous in its world-construction, magic system, the depth and variety of characters, and the way the three stories blend together into one larger sweep while moving from one character as the main focus to another.

Often with a trilogy, I'm not motivated to just keep going. I takes breaks to read other things and get a bit of a "rest" before carrying on. It just feels like too much of one thing to commit to. But with this set, I moved on from one to the next without a break, not because of being tricked by cliffhangers (cheap trick IMHO), which this author doesn't do, but because I wanted to stay with these people and this world a bit longer.

Looking forward to her next trilogy - I've put off starting the [b:Dragon's Reach|53283967|Dragon's Reach (The Keeper Origins, #1)|J.A. This was a great read. I was never quite sure what would happen next and the characters and world was well drawn.

Fantastic epic trilogy

It took a chapter or so to get into, so if it doesn't immediately grab you, do keep going. I loved all three books in the trilogy, all told from the perspective of a different character. The magical system is different enough to make it interesting, and the characters are well drawn.

This is a great book - or set of books. The characters are well written and it is so easy to get pulled into their stories. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and am definitely looking forward to possible future books.
