This was an incredibly interesting little book. It draws a lot of thought provoking ideas out of you, and I find myself still thinking about it in response to problems that we are facing today. The author is lyrical in their writing, and inspires me to open my eyes to new ideas, and a dystopian world that I have not yet explored.
The only reason I take a star off is because in such a small book, it's difficult to feel super close to the characters. This isn't by any fault of Emezi, I think there was more to this story than the teenagers that occupy the world. What was meant to get across about the kids was told, but the emotional impact of their struggles doesn't dig at me as much as other characters have in the past.

This book was absolutely incredible. I will be recommending this to every teacher, parent, violence preventionist, transformative practitioner, and human I know.
