Creel and her dragon friends save the day again in this sequel to Dragon Slippers. YA fantasy novel. Rated G.

I liked this sequal to Dragon Slippers, but not as much as the first. I still liked the creative solutions Creel comes up with using her seamstress skills. However, the plot seems to have gone so much faster. Everything fell into place one after another. By the time the villain was defeated and someone mentioned two weeks had passed (in book time), I was startled. The events happened so quickly, it seemed like only a few days had gone by.

The human characters didn't develop at all. Velika surprised me with how quickly she recovered mentally and emotionally. Luka and Creel get closer, but not in any way that I felt was substantial. There are hints (really really obvious ones) that Luka returns Creel's interest. Creel mentions at the end how she missed talking to Luka for those long days and nights while hiding out in the cave...but we never get to see those moments. If we did, I would've been more enthusiastic about the ending.

I enjoyed this story, but something is missing in this one. It is adventurous and fun, but it just doesn't have the same charm as the first, though it is still a solid read.

The second book of this series was pretty good too. I found Creel to be slightly less amusing as she was in the first one at first, but eventually her sarcasm and spirit came back into the book a little bit later. I liked how there was more activity and dialogue from the dragons, and they definitely took a more involved position in this book. I also like how she slightly expounds more on the politics and happenings of the dragons and their kingdom as well.

I am having so much fun reading these books. I think I saw one review that the end was a little slow, but I think that's why I liked it.

I think I have "action fatigue" or something. EVERYTHING follows the same pattern. And I know it's how storytelling is supposed to go. Build to the climax and then calm down to the resolution. But every story (and movie) has SO MUCH CLIMAX AND IT NEEDS TO KEEP GOING AND HAVE A TWIST AND MORE ACTION.

It's just not for me because it's the same thing every time. This! I love this! Yes there was action at the climax but it didn't go on forever and drain me. It had a longer calm ending that was just...I don't know..."Nice Story."

I like stories. Not "all the fights" for the only climax. This has a main character who deals with a larger world and she's a great character.

This is a long review just to say that I like her writing. And I like these books. They're definitely for me and I will read the next one.

That's all. If you like quieter, thoughtful, fun stuff, these are good books.
