I liked this one. Fun twists and interesting plot elements.
fast-paced

not quite as good as the first due to the pacing and also having some iffy feelings on the world building, but what a delightful cast to return to

really liked it-as much as Dragon Slippers. I'd probably put it 4th grade and up, just for some of the scary parts. I do hope this becomes a series--love a fantasy with strong female and male characters!

sadly this wasn't as good as the first :( i still liked it and am still very fond of these characters but there were some major continuity problems (in terms of book 1 and book 2) and i wasn't too enamored by the plot. in the author's note jessica day george says that she never meant to write a 2nd book and honestly? it shows.

Spoilerbook 1 ends with luka/creel clearly starting some sort of romantic relationship and yet book 2 begins with creel talking about how they can't be together because he was a prince and she was a commoner??? book 1 also ends with creel/luka searching for shardas and i expected book 2 to be about that search and journey but instead in book 2 we are just told that they were found. i spent a lot of the first couple of chapters just getting very confused tbh.

oh well. ~we'll always have the first book~

I enjoyed this book as much as Dragon Flight (so why the 3 star? I just can't make up my mind on how to rate books!). I like the story progression with the dragons and Creel's desire to help. I plan to start reading it to Alex now. He really enjoyed the first book.

It was delightful. I couldn't put it down.

Oh my gosh!!! I am sooooo happy with the ending of this book. From the beginning of the book, I really wanted Creel and Luka to get together and I had a strong hate for social class structure... But, I was PLEASANTLY surprised when Luka asked Creel to marry him, and even more happy when she said YES!!! I am in love with this series and I can't wait to start the next book. I have grown a lot of feelings towards Sharda and Creel's relationship and it always makes me in a better mood when I read about them!!!

It was good. Not great, just good. I was a little disappointed, after the spectacular attack that was Dragon Slippers, but then, it's a sequel - I've learned to have low expectations when it comes to sequels. It wasn't surprising.

It was all so dire, so important. It didn't have the same feel as the first, the fun-loving romp through a bunch of fantasy clichés, turning them upside down. It was mostly just DRAGON WAR. MUST STOP DRAGON WAR. A little frustrating, really, especially when the action came at the expense of a lot of potential character development.

I will say that my new favorite dragon is Feniul. He's hilarious.
