For the bookworms who love YA that has romance and friendships in them.

Premise and ideas? 11/10. Execution? Mediocre at best. I liked the trivia references (more so when I knew the answers)

Cute YA book about a girl experiencing friendship and love for the first time. The main character (Mary) reads obsessively the classics mainly because her parents are professors of literature and is now entering public school for the first time. Not sure if it was intentional but it seems that Mary may be on the spectrum as she struggles to understand why people do things, why her oldest friend drops her without much reason and is so obsessive about books. I think the new friends give me mean girls vibes without the mean side of them. I enjoyed being transported into that crazy hormone fueled life.

i loved this book and i think you would if you love classic books. the romance was adorable and it really reminded me of rory and tristian’s relationship in gilmore girls. (if they had been given a chance…) like in the book, the girls name is literally mary (if ykyk) and she loves studying and reading classics. and then alex is seen as the “player” who is always with a new girl until he finds interest in mary. (like tristian omg) anyway, definitely had a fun time with this book!

This was. . .fine. I had a difficult time with the voice of our main character. Maybe I'm just (finally) getting too old for YA.
