This is essentially a really old textbook for a would-be monarch. It definitely smells like a book published in the 1500's if you catch my drift. If historical instructional documents are your thing then this book is for you, but you've probably already read it lol. I know it's a translation of a translation but the book needs fewer commas. The summary for any would-be princes is basically 'Don't be an idiot, Don't be a jerk, in that order'.

Oh, there's also a joke or two in there if you look hard enough.

“Men in general judge more by the sense of sight than by the sense of touch, because everyone can see but few can test by feeling. Everyone sees what you seem to be, few know what you really are; and those few do not dare take a stand against the general opinion.”

This felt a bit like the 48 Laws of Power but published in 1532. I liked it though, I'm glad I read it.

Machiavelli's coments on princehood can be very usefull for anyone who wants to better understand how politics work. It also provides usefull insights that can be used in business.
