This book is a great children's book that covers a part of history. The book takes you through the process of how the president’s house came to be. George was involved in building the house from beginning to end. He even selected the location to figuring out how to get the thousands of heavy bricks to the construction site.

What a fun twist on an old nursery rhyme with a little insight on what it took to build the President's House!

Love the connection to the classic poem then with information on the other side. Nice illustrations, great connections to other white house and "house that .. built" poem books.

This is two stories in one. There is the non-fiction part that tells who the designer is, what George helped with, etc. These are all really interesting. What I particularly like is that this could be used as a book for Storytime. The second story is a rhyme that builds on itself as you turn the pages. A history lesson and story time rolled into one does not happen often, but this time it works. An Illinois Reads 2016 selection.
