This was my first read by this author, and my initial thought when I finished was what a wonderfully unique voice he has, and how wonderfully he weaved an interwoven story about people. Loneliness and companionship. Life and death. Once I got into this, I didn’t want to stop! I read most of this book on the last week. I enjoyed the characters he created, and the ways he tied everything together. I am keen to read more from Backman, as I’ve heard this might not even be his best novel. I’m curious what others thought!

I love that Backman just seems to pluck random words out of a hat to keep the story going. It is woven so well, and his characters are so human. I love that Nadia and Jack got to meet at the end! And the rabbit was totally not what I had thought

His writing is so captivating and this book had me enjoying it literally from page 2. I love the way he writes his story and unfolds each layer bit by bit until you have the whole story and then he adds a bit more at the end and ties the whole thing in in a neat bow that leaves you feeling almost breathless. This ones definitely in the top 3 books I’ve read this year.
