If the entire book was Artemis' antics with the therapist, and having to retrieve his father from the Russian Mafia while avoiding his mother's suspicions this would be an easy 10/10. I want to see Artemis in his element. But instead we got Artemis completely sidelined for some random fairy revolution plot, which is fine but not at all what I signed up for. Opal also was incredibly irrelevant in this plot which was unfortunate. I just feel as though my expectations were set up for something that I didn't receive so I gave 2 stars for the disappointment.

Overall I feel like the author relies on making Artemis act out of character in order to be endearing, but we rarely ever get to see him actually be the criminal genius mastermind that he's been made out to be. I actually WANT to see him be evil and twisted. Convince me, don't just tell me. The character development will surely come later but convince me first.

I like this one more than [b:Artemis Fowl|249747|Artemis Fowl (Artemis Fowl, #1)|Eoin Colfer|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1630661894l/249747._SX50_.jpg|1334778], probably because I didn't remember as much of the story from the first time I read this, which was 15-ish years ago. Some nice character growth and expansion of the world. Overall, a nice and safe read, maybe just on the edge of four stars.

This was a nice book to read. It was fun and I really enjoyed it. Mr. Colfer is an amazing writer and I hope to get the opportunity to read more of his work.
