A nostalgic and simple book. Two races at war, their heirs marry to attempt peace, and romance ensues. While not groundbreaking, Atwater-Rhodes crafts this story with heart and detail that shine in the simplicity. A wonderful afternoon park read

I adored this book, after reading the Den of Shadows series I dove straight into this book. It is about two enemies the Avians and the Serpiente... for as long as Danica can remember there has been a war between the Avians and the Serpiente and all she wants is for it to stop. Danice is heir to the heir to the Avian throne as Zane is the heir to the Serpiente throne.

In an attempt to unite the two civilizations and to stop war and enforce peace, Zane and Danica both agree to marry each other after a lot of hesitation. They both want to do anything they can to stop the war because they have both lost so many people to this war. The hardest thing they will ever learn to do is to trust each other, because if they can't trust one another they won't be able to convince their people that this is the path to peace.

At first Danica and Zane hated each other's guts because that is how they were taught... but as they get to know each other those walls crumble and they begin to see the true sides of each other. It's so amazing how they fall in love with each other... This was such a swoon worthy book and I know I will definitely re-read this book! It isn't long at all but is filled with love, hate, and trying to do what is right. If you like YA with romance and an amazing world you should give this book a try!

Every time I read these books I fall in love with them again. It's such a simple idea: an endless war, a princess and prince trying for peace with two peoples as different, and yet as similar as can be.... yet Atwater-Rhodes makes it new with vivid imagery, a sweet, slow burn love story, and a richly imagined world of shifters. Love this whole series.

this book was a rather pleasant read, it did have some aspects that seemed a bit rushed into but otherwise was okay. I did have an expectation when I decided to read this book cause a friend told me about it but the book was nothing like what they had told me it was really good.

I can see myself getting invested in the love story if the book wasn't so damned rushed and short! By chapter three things have crazy progressed when we should still be doing set up and world building. Just way too quick
