Re-read in advance of the new movie. Counting it for the “book featuring characters who are twins” prompt for the 2018 Popsugar Reading Challenge.

It’s been a long time since I read this, and I’d completely forgotten the many frequent and overt religious references throughout this book. As a younger reader I was not bothered by this in the least and in my memory the book was more metaphysical than religious. I wasn’t exactly “bothered” by the religiosity this time around, just surprised.

Still consider this a beautiful and hopeful story.

Started reading this as part of Ted Lasso book club and I had really never read it before. It was an enjoyable quick read. It’s a bit surprising it’s held where it is in the history of literature, if written today it would just feel like every episode of doctor who.

Surprised I'd never read this before and was even more surprised it's a banned book in some places?? Big Wizard of Oz vibes but a good story.

I read this for the first time when I was in the fifth grade. Now I've listened to an audio recording by Ms. L'Engle done in 1994.

I really didn't care for Ms. L'Engle's reading. She was very enthusiastic in it but there was almost no differentiation in the character voices. When Meg would have an emotional outburst I found myself reaching for the volume to turn it down.

I had forgotten so many of the small details of it in the years since first reading the book. I remember being fascinated by the science ideas presented in the story and going to look up things like tesseracts. I did not recall all of the religious overtones in the story. When reading the whole series as a kid and preteen, I don't think I realized the religious subplots until I read Many Waters. Overall I still enjoyed the story.

Just re-read in anticipation of seeing the movie. Has me wondering how the movie will convey some of the darkness and other dimensional aspects of the book. Now getting ready to read a bio of the author.

I am not a re-reader, but I just re-read this about 38 years after my first time. Thanks to the movie, and thanks to my son, for bringing me back to it.
