Unreliable narrator, plenty of literary devices and symbolism that made the book entertaining and more of a puzzle than just a story. Lots of #deep passages that might come across as disingenuous but it’s difficult because the narrator is so ~interesting~. I found this book to be frustrating because it was simultaneously doing THE MOST, but still had some good take away themes.

I have mixed feelings about this book. For the most part I found the narrator unlikable and the way they talked about women and their past relationships was uncomfortable and often times misogynistic. The book was also very slow paced and primarily exposition, which I personally dislike as I find it difficult to follow (though I know that’s down to personal taste).
However, I did find the book somewhat enjoyable and I found the unique storytelling and structure to be very interesting. I also felt like the narrator does, in some ways, redeem themselves and grows from some of the things that bothered me about them in the beginning.

i’m just mad that as soon as the narrator got attached to someone and stuck with them after the chase, something had to go wrong. like throughout the book they went through so many different lovers and i think it was because they loved the chase most of all. after that they would just leave and go on to the next person. ALSO WTF HAPOENED TO WHATSHERFSVE LIKE CMON IS SHE EVEN ALIVE
