According to my mother, when I was little and Jumanji was playing on TV, I would run around screaming, "Ephelants! Ephelants!" (note: not "elephants"). I found it kind of hilarious how fairly level-headed the kids are about there being wild animals in their house.

Quick read. Love the movie, liked the book. Not exactly the same story.

I have loved this book since I was young, and later sharing it with my classes and own children. It never disappoints! Imagination is the cure for boredom in this cautionary tale. I'm revisiting it again for graduate work in children's literacy studies... Best homework ever!

Maddie and I read this book before we’ll watch the movie. I didn’t realize it was such a short story when we started playing it though.
