I enjoyed the book immensely. Specially the parts concerning fairies and how some of what happened in the book were the same as the legends or tales we knew. I also liked how Phil's family is presented in the book and how they interact with each other. It was just a tad slow in the middle for me when the fairy's plot is slowly revealed. As in, SLOWLY. The confrontation didn't have that much impact to me and I would have preferred an ending with more bang. But considering the heroes at the end, I guess it was expected.

A satisfying read but I think it could have been better (don't ask me how though).

I really wanted to enjoy this book. the writing was solid with strong dialogue and imagery. but I just couldn't really get into the book. I didn't find myself attached to any of the characters, and the protagonists seemed contrived. after about 60% of the book, I finally accepted that I was*working* to get through the novel and set it aside.

In giving this 3 stars for the evil Fae and book cover only. The actual writing in this book is atrocious and hasn't aged well at all. Was there even a right time that sexualising your young daughter as a parent to your male friends ok? But the outline of the story was brilliant and the rest is zero stars.

In a book where a character is specifically praised for how well he writes dialogue, it is particularly annoying how bad the dialogue is in this story.

I love everything about this that does not make it a fantasy. Plus I think this could be a great screeplay for a horror movie.

Enjoyable but not extraordinary. I really felt the late-eighties in the writing style and human interaction. If you can slog through the first portion, you will be glad- the final third of the book is the darkest and most entertaining.

This book was amazing! I bought it thinking it was some kind of tie in with the rift war series but it absolutely is not. It is a stand alone book set in the current era. It started out somewhat slow but finished with a bang! I would 100% recommend this to anyone who likes a good fantasy story!

I just couldn't get into this book. It felt boring and lifeless. It might pick up steam later on, but I barely made it to the quarter mark before I quit.
