love how melina marchetta never let's you stew on your formed opinion of a character. it's like she's dead set on showing you that everyone has their side of the story, their POV and life experiences and you should not unjustly judge them for it.
she's also so great at nailing the power of community, it even makes you jealous of this strong support group that you wish you were part of.
it took me around half of the book to realize that the frankie and mackee I was reading about were the original gang 🥲 can't tell you how much it means to me to see these characters I suffered with in my teens now being my age 🥲 getting to see them surfing life, jumping this goddamn hoops and still coming out triumphant.
ANYWAYS I LOVE YOU MELINA.
