I don't often find myself reading collections of poetry, but I picked up a copy of this from Waterstones since Plath is my friend's favourite poet. She has such a way with words and I absolutely adored her writing! The personification-of-the-moon motif might be my favourite thing ever actually.

It’s hard to write about poetry when, unlike prose, it can sometimes be even more open-ended with regards to interpretations and understanding.

However, in these collected poems, it’s easy to see the brilliance and the soul Plath had for poetry. Even if not every poem hits, Plath had a unique eye for minutiae, for the slightest splashes of emotion to the most overpowering waves.

Her style can perhaps be best defined as poignant, pointed, and definitely electric and full of life.

If there were ever a poet for the modern reader, experienced or green, Plath would be a worthy place to begin.
