Not as strong as Birthmarked. I would have liked a lot more exploration of the ramifications of a matriarchal society; I feel like the author shied away from confronting some of the effects of the laws and mores of the community she created.
Also, three guys in love with the main character? Really?

I loved this. Hated the love triangle but it really pushed all my shippy buttons

So far the series feels like a mix between The Hunger Games and The Handmaid's Tale but with less violence and in a society ruled and governed by women. It's definitely interesting and different. Solid 3.5 I think the description about the world could've been better as well as character development.

Having a love square doesn't make it "different". It just makes it worse. Ugh.

Prized is a wonderful sequel to Birthmarked. It deals with tough issues and deep characters in the same graceful style that I've come to expect from O'Brien. While it's not for the squeamish and has some slightly adult themes, this book will make you think. Eagerly awaiting the final book.

Liked the first book better, but I still flew through this book, read it all in basically on sitting.

I really liked this book, possibly more than the first one. It was a great story - but I feel like the ending could have been more open-ended. Honestly, with the way the story ended - there doesn't need to be a third book wrote/read. It didn't leave me feeling like I absolutely had to read the third book in order to conclude the trilogy. However, I will.

This is a difficult review because I really enjoyed the beginning of the book but there were just some things that really annoyed me.
The society and the concept of this second book sounded really promising but how the main character dealed with everything was annoying. She got for everything she did in trouble and didn't think how her actions could affect some people. Also there were three 'love interests', it is understandable since there are way more men than women, but I don't see the point why it was necessary.
Now I'm curious to read how the whole society problem will be solved in the third book.
