I didn't know the full mythology of Thanos and the rest of Starlin's slice of the Marvel universe when I first read this, but it was still highly enjoyable as a complete crossover story with a clear beginning, middle and end, and cosmic repercussions that really did matter, which is something you just don't get nowadays.

A traditional Marvel space book. Everyone dies, everything stays the same. Less boring than your typical Marvel space book. There's a lot of plot, but not lot of character action. Really most of the characters are very thin. I've read other Thanos books, this one is okay. Biggest disappointment is how unimportant pretty much everyone is in this struggle. It all basically made sense though, which is more than I expected.

It will be interesting to see how MCU transitions from Civil War to this.

I’d like Thanos to come to my birthday party. He’d be a hoot.

Really enjoyed this especially having watched infinity war and seeing the source material that was adapted so impressively into a movie saga! This comic, unlike the movie, doesn't mess about and really does brutalise a few characters more than Disney would ever be willing to show. For me this is absolutely classic marvel at its best, and I honestly think that watching the MCU as a modern fan can only be bolstered by reading such great source material

I mean I read it to prep for the movie and was happy to find out it's pretty bonkers.

I really enjoyed this, although there were a couple of things about the resolution that seemed sketchy. (Seriously, why is their first thought after Nebula takes the Gauntlet to team up with Thanos? Wouldn't it make more sense to at least try talking to her? Lady's been through a lot, is all I'm saying.)

Starlin does a solid job of making the danger seem immediate and overwhelming, even though the reader assumes that all killed characters will be resurrected in the near future. The excellent pencils do a lot to add to the atmosphere, too.
