While I could guess there was 'something fishy' in the plot from an early stage, I was absolutely delighted that the entire plot didn't revolve around this happening at the conclusion - this novel pleasantly surprised me. I felt the ending was a bit rushed, but seeing that the sequel takes place from seemingly the moment this one finishes, perhaps that can be forgiven.

A good book, however it gets a 3star based on the plot being a bit predictable. There wasn't much action in this novel or grand sword fights, a little bit of cloak and dagger in the whole who can I trust thing. But honestly as much as I enjoyed this novel and as well written as it was I find myself missing a bit of action and events, things that would make this more than just a romance perhaps. Good romance read though.

Alexandra, after learning about her true past, she has learned of her true destiny. So out of duty and obligation she sets her sights on Prince Randolph. Even though he is attractive and charming, he is not the brother she is attracted to, because she is drawn to his brother Nicholas. A man who stirs up her senses like no other man has. Even though she knows there is no future for them, she can't help but tremble with his kiss he gives her. Alexandra, knows she must focus on Prince Randolph, knowing that he is part of her destiny. But then she will have to make a choice, a difficult one, decide what is more important her duty to country or to fight for a life with Nicholas? I skipped part of the review layout this time due to the fact that I don't want to reveal any spoilers for those that haven't had the chance to read it. Before I got my hands on this one, I had heard many good things about this new series by Juilianne Maclean. I have just loved her books so far, she is such a captivating author, that draws a reader instantly into a book. Its rare for me to instantly be drawn into the story so immediately. I just loved everything about this one. At times I get nervous over reading royalty fiction. It can be hard to get into at times. However I found this one to be very refreshing at every turn. There was a intriguing plot, where it seemed to me like there was more than one climax. I really loved the variety of scenes that happen, and when you think you have seen the HEA, the story keeps continuing on and is very engaging and keeps the reader involved continually in the story. The characters seemed full of life, fresh like newly picked flowers. I loved both the hero and heroine in this one, however I think for the latter half of the story I was on Alex's side of things to be honest. Although I did enjoy how things really work out in the end, despite the obvious game of lies and deceit. However we also see two people learning how to truly love and trust in each other I am also looking forward to reading more of this series. It definitely was a exciting adventure reading this one and am looking forward to more!

My Favorite Quote
"I burn for you, Alex. I want you in my bed every second of the day, and there are moments I want to throw my whole heart and soul into yours."

Boring.

Divided into four parts, the first part is where Alexandra and Nicholas meet, for this part of the book Alex and Nick circle around each other in lust. Until bam they're in love and decide to elope.

The second part is where truths are revealed, Alex is
Spoilerthe heiress to the previous King and Queen that prince Randolph's father deposed.
And also it turns out (un)surprisingly that
SpoilerNick is actually Randolph in disguise pretending to be his brother so he can fall in love with someone who doesn't just want to be queen.

The twists were very easy to spot. In fact the secret of
Spoilerthe Nick/Randolph switch
would have been more interesting if we'd known the whole way through.

Then there was a lot of political stuff and Randolph not sure if Alex wanted to have him knocked off or not.

I didn't believe Alex and
SpoilerNick/Randolph
fell in love sure they were in lust but one second they lusted, a lot and then they loved enough to elope? I didn't buy it. I also didn't much care for the intrigue of Petersbourg. I was disappointed, I very much enjoyed MacLean's Highlander trilogy and that is the reason I picked up Be My Prince, I sincerely doubt that I'll even look for [b:Princess in Love|13507480|Princess in Love (The Royal Trilogy, #2)|Julianne MacLean|http://www.goodreads.com/assets/nocover/60x80.png|19058906].
I rarely say this but give it a miss, there are many historical romances out there that are better than this.

I liked the characters, but the story development didn’t fall so favourably with me being based around “issues.” The romance part of the book took up quarter of the book, and the rest just lacked in the romance department. I got more frustrated with this one than I liked it, which was a shame because the first quarter of the book was quite good. Oh well, it wasn’t bad, but didn’t inspire.

Overall, not bad but I got very frustrated when both of the secrets were revealed (thankfully, fairly quickly in the story) and the heroine forgave the hero easily but the hero didn't forgive the heroine at all and then proceeded not to trust her for the rest of the book. The ending picked back up and I am very anxious to read the next book even though this one fell a little short for me.
3 1/2 stars

Thank you to Fresh Fiction for the free signed copy of this novel.

This historical romance was a wonderful page-turner. I enjoyed the main characters and the plot twists throughout the story. It kept me guessing until the final chapters and I found I didn't want to put the book down until I figured out everyone's involvement in the plot. I can't wait to read the second book in this trilogy (Princess In Love) later this year...
