i hate giving star ratings to novellas, so i usually don’t. but here are some of my thoughts. i think there is SO MUCH necessary information in this novella. stuff that’s super important to understanding how things work in the world, so for that reason i’d say that you’d probably need to read it before book 3. i did enjoy it, but ultimately i missed not being with Spensa.

I wish I’d read this after book 2 instead of after book 3 of the series, because I was a little bit hazy on the context; what’s already happened and what hasn’t at this point. That being said, still a splendid novella with lots of action, and I’m glad we got to hang out with the slugs a little more. They’re very endearing.

On to the next novella!
