I really love this book, it's the kind of poetry I strive to write and I take big inspiration from it in my own work.

I loved a lot of these poems and connect with Carol Ann Duffy's work in a way I don't normally with poetry. I think the only issue is we have had so many similar books since that it feels more 'done' than it would have at the time of publishing.

Carol Ann Duffy is an exceptional poet. These poems from the POV of the wives of popular mythological men were stunning. If you don't know the myth, it'd be a bit difficult to follow the poems. Anyway, eight of them were my favourites:

Mrs Midas
from Mrs Tiresias
Mrs Faust
Queen Kong
Medusa
The Devil's Wife
Mrs Lazarus
Mrs Rip Van Winkle
