This is my third Bridgerton book and I usually have a lot of complaints but with Penelope and Colin's story...I actually really enjoyed it. More than the netflix season.

I did skip the erotic parts (personal choice ) and still found the read engaging.

This has been the most enjoyable of the series so far, but it did get a bit tedious with the second epilogue. I've found while reading the series there are two things that bother me, which I haven't commented on as I haven't written reviews for the others. But, as this was quite enjoyable assuming you're a fan of the genre and don't mind repetitive vocabulary often found in YA, I want to note them:
1.) Quinn frequently has repetitive passages where the characters are reflecting even though NOTHING has changed since the last such passage, their thoughts and opinions included. I'm not sure if this is to lengthen the works or just a lack of trust in the reader to remember.
2.) Quinn has an almost adolescent understanding of anger and physical intimacy. Annoyance to blind rage is always met with the same imagery of wishful violence. And after 4 "loss of innocence" scenes, she still seems to fall back on the same tropes of misinformation that plague the straight teenage boy population. While I can allow that the understanding is probably accurate for the era, the description of sensations felt by the characters and  physical evidence wouldn't be. In short: Girl needs to pickup a copy of The Vagina Bible.

I have to admit that I would have had little to no interest in reading any of this series if it hadn't been for the Netflix show. I still don't really have a lot of interest in the books after seeing the show, but I liked this season enough that I wanted to see how it compared to the book. For the most part I was entertained, but something about it just translates better to screen, and that's not something I say very often. I enjoyed the book for the fluff it was, but I don't see myself being in a rush to buy the rest of the series.
