This novelization of the Bonnie Hunt and Steve Martin film was written decades before the making of that classic. Time warp!

I didn't realize this book was as old as it is! It was cute, funny, and quick to read. I think some of the humor probably got lost over the years, but most of it could still apply to life today. I really enjoyed how the author created pictures in my mind of the events as they were happening.

I *loved* this book as a kid and definitely read it multiple times. It holds up well to a modern adult re-reading (except the scene with the Chinese cook). I kept laughing out loud and snickering over little bits. Good stuff. :)

Whoohoo, first 5 stars of the year! This was such a feel good story of a close knit family who love each other and work together as a team. Very much like the movie. It is exceptionally rare if I get laughing out loud while reading, BUT I did so this time....and got many funny stares...totally worth it.

Minus the occasional bad language, this would be great to read together as a family.
