Lacked the charm of its predecessors, but it was ok.

Hvad sker der lige for den cliffhanger? Kan det da la' vær'!
Den næste bog er ikke udkommet, og så stopper det på den måde!

I'm still enjoying this series, especially now that there is one mystery per book. That being said, this wasn't my favorite installment. I really liked the idea, the setting in the UK, the dual timeline in the 90s and present day. Getting to know The Nine was fun. But their timeline had so many repetitions that the present timeline had barely any page time. I love having Stevie and her friends together solving crimes, but there were barely any interactions between them this time. Most of it was either in Stevie's head or some forced obstacle that didn't need to be there. I loved Stevie's and Nate's talk, though.
The story got surprisingly sad, and I HATE the ending! WTF is that cliffhanger?! This better be resolved on the very first page of book 6. XD

3.5 | no oryginalnej trylogii to nie dorównuje na pewno, ogólnie fun i szybko się czyta ale zdecydowanie za mały nacisk na samą zagadkę kryminalna imo

I have never read any of the Ellington series, but I really enjoyed this YA thriller. The flashbacks to the original murder were effective as were the police statements. Perhaps since I hadn't read the previous novels, I did not understand the purpose or impact of the calls from the woman at their school.

Overall, I would recommend this book to readers who enjoy a light yet interesting YA thriller.
