“You know the days when you get the mean reds?
Paul Varjak: The mean reds. You mean like the blues?
Holly Golightly: No. The blues are because you’re getting fat, and maybe it’s been raining too long. You’re just sad, that’s all. The mean reds are horrible. Suddenly you’re afraid, and you don’t know what you’re afraid of. Do you ever get that feeling?”

I’m biased, probably wouldn’t have liked it as much if I didn’t love the movie - I still very much preferred the movie (which is odd and usually not so). It has some of my favourite quotes.

Niet mijn soort boek. Veel te arty-farty en hoogdravend. Technisch zeer ok, maar mist ziel.

A quaint little tale brought down by relentless problematic stereotyping. Its central plot is one that has been repeated infinite times in fiction and reality, but I'm glad it went the direction it did in the end. Curious to see whether the film follows suit or gives into the romance angle.
