PEN AMERICA! A hidden gem! Now, In Transit isn't a total gem; I found the poetry to not only be off-theme (a lot of the collection was off-theme) but of lower quality than I would've liked. PEN seemed to be using a lot of material from their own conferences (a bit too much). It was fun though, a suuuper quick read and full of some great stories. The Chechnyan doctor/artist story almost brought me to tears. The lying husband made me cringe so hard. Osama's hint fiction both brightened and darkened my day. These moments of emotion are more than I can say for most lit mag issues, so great job PEN, even if I wanted more/any essays about hotel management and train station architecture.
