It's really more of a 3.5 stars than 3. Interesting read, I'm pretty amazed at how attached I grew to the main character. I haven't yelled at a book in a really long time.

One of the few cases where the movie is better than the book.

It was an enjoyable read, but I felt that the journal-style of writing limited the view. It became hard to empathize with anyone except Pat, which is a shame because there seems to be so much more to the characters. For instance, Tiffany felt like an Anti-MPDG (think Clementine from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind), instead of a deeply fucked-up woman whose feelings & thoughts the reader can appreciate better.

Also, I felt that the ending was a little rushed. I felt that a lot of the plot points went unresolved, and it didn't leave me very satisfied.

10/10 disappointed. I don’t know how they made such a good movie from a horrible book but here we are.

4.5/5 Quirky page turner. Pat Peoples and Tiffany are two mentally ill characters I will never forget. I really enjoyed the way the book was written, from Pat's mentally ill point of view. Funny and at times cringingly (I made up that word I think) tragic.

An interesting read but I think I found it hard at times to connect with the main characters

I thought this was a good book until the ending! I loved reading the book. The author kept me interested the entire way throughout the book trying to figure out why Pat was in the mental facility. I thought that the book ended rather abruptly. I felt like we literally found out in the last two chapters what happened between Pat and Nikki and then the book ended. I would have loved to find out if Pat develops a relationship with Tiffany.

I am looking forward to watching the movie to compare the two!
