First, thanks to Wren Taylor for sending an ARC in exchange for my review, now to the book.

I am such a sucker for holiday romances, ESPECIALLY sapphic holiday romances. This story was so beautiful and so well written, I found myself getting caught up in all the emotions of Lou and Katie. The way Wren writes about these people, it’s like I can see them up and walking around as easily as breathing. The character Jason was especially one I connected with, he reminded me so much of a dear friend who is no longer with us, but it’s as if he found a home in these pages and for a moment I got to see my friend again.

The story itself is so well done, it’s just enough Christmas to put you in the spirit without hitting you over the head with a peppermint stick. I especially loved the differentiation between the communal atmosphere of Christmas versus the commercialism and how important it is to remember the difference, and that Christmas is time for family and loved ones being together.

This is a story about love, about grief, and choosing to do the hard thing even if you’re afraid, and it has made me laugh, cry, and long for a space to be still and look up at the sky and wonder at the beauty. Thank you Wren for writing such a gorgeous book.
