Enjoyable, light read. Theme is the healing power of books and the special bonds of a bookstore community. Honestly, just getting to live vicariously through the main character who lived above the bookstore and spent her days at the bookstore and coffee shop, is really all I wanted!

such a good book!!!! i loved the emphasis on family and the sentiments. i loved takako’s sincerity and her growth and her relationships! and i loved the subtle romance storyline that doesn’t take away from the themes of self and family. and i love the theme within the first half of finding oneself and contentment ahhh so good

Wonderful, relaxing and wholesome read. Perfect for an autumnal afternoon.

Reminds you of the importance of taking stock (or dropping anchor as Satoru would say) and reconnecting with what's important (books).
