“I had learned that life was a vicious bitch and people were complicated. They lied to themselves.”

Sorry guys, but this isn't going to be a positive review. I was really looking forward to this one because I was wondering where the characters’ story was going. I got my answers that what is Alessandro hiding and I learned more about him. There was a lot of action, but the joke was very minimal and I missed that. (Mainly because I love the authors' humor.)

“The human mind is infinitely complex. We make a myriad of decisions without even realizing it. Something causes us to roll the pen between our fingers while we’re thinking.”

I’m a little angry because I didn’t like Catalina’s behavior at first. (True it turns out why she behaves that way.) The investigation only consisted of interviews. Which after a while became boring for me. I missed the Baylor family fighting together. To be honest I only liked the book from 70%. The old atmosphere of the story has really returned here. And of course cliffhanger wasn’t left behind again.

My head just like........ exploded.

A more thoughtful review: this book levels up the game of everyone involved. You thought Catalina and Alessandro were cool in the last book? Get ready for double, even triple levels of legit. What I love is how the author weaves in the strengths, weaknesses, and fears of the characters and utilizes all of them when creating a truly daunting opponent for them to face, and so watching them triumph feels so satisfying. Loved this installment.
