I enjoyed this story very much. It was the beginning of my No TV in January resolution. It was very different than I expected it to be. But I truly enjoyed it.

I really like this book, idk why every time i reread this i think im not going to like it, Its so fast paced, i love the characters with their powers, i love th plot and the plot twists omgg. Even though i reread this in february, it still surprised me with the plot twists and revelations.

OMG HOW TRAUMATIZING IT IS TO JACOB, his grandpa is dead and no one believes him. Everyone thinks he is crazy, and he is having nightmares, poor kid.

i hate his parents, her mom is really annoying and his dad, agh i hate him in the scene when they are cleaning grandpas house, he doesnt understand what these things mean to jacob.

They go to the island, and omg the house is in ruins, literally. Poor Jacob, i would never go to that house, it was so creepy. Jacob asks the people about the house and they tell Jacob that everyone died in 1940, it must be so confusing for him. The next morning a peregrine comes and stands in Jacob windows, and hes like its just a coincidence, OF COURSE IS NOT A COINCIDENCE.

He goes the house and sees Emma, he follows her, but she escapes. When he goes to the town some guys try to beat him but he escapes. He meets with Emma and she "kidnapps" him, and takes him to the house.

We meet Millard (I love him). Then Jacob meets miss peregrine, he tells her that his grandpa is dead, and Emma was listening, I feel so bad for her. Then he meets the others peculiars <33

I get kinda angry whenever I read the scene of Jacob seeing the bombs for the first time and everyone laughs at him, like wtf I would be so scared if I was him.

The next day he goes back and they are waiting for him, they make a show showing their peculiarities. Then they go to the beach, and Idk if I like the romance between Jacob and Emma, i mean, the first time i read this I shipped them but now i realize it's kinda creepy, she's really older than him and she was with his grandpa

The next day miss Peregrine is waiting for him in the entryway, and she tells Jacob to stop telling the kids about all the amazing technology of the future: "They cannot leave, and I'd appreciate it if you didn't make them want to"

aghh Enoch, i didnt remember what he did, but now that i read it im so mad, he is so manipulative, he makes Jacob see Victor knowing that would scared him. I forgot about Raid the Village game, what the fuck is that.

Emma and Jacob kinda go to a date, they go underwater. I like this scene, its cute. Also, Emma tells Jacob he is peculiar and we realize Jacob can see the monsters.

They go back and something happened, one of miss peregrine friends came. When Jacob gets there he asks Miss Peregrine when she was going to tell him he was peculiar. She says she was afraid he'd run away if she told him. Miss Avocet wakes up, and she tells Miss Peregrine that wights broke into her loop and kidnapped some of her children.

Miss Peregrine tells Jacob the truth about their kind: they are constantly hunted by hollowgasts, which are the monstrous remains of peculiars who once tried to use time loops to make themselves immortal. Hollowgasts are served by wights, which are hollows that have eaten enough peculiar people to revert back to some semblance of their human form, HOLYSHIT

Dad says he bumped into the ornithologist the other night. Jacob asked if he noticed anything weird about the man's face, he says he was wearing his sunglasses. Jacob sneaks away to report this strange occurrence to Miss Peregrine. She orders him to stay and says that if he leaves he can never come back, WHAT.

They go to talk with the dead guy, and its really creepy. We realize that the wight who killed him was Jacob middle-school bus driver, his Grandpa's blind neighbor and his psychiatrist, Dr. Golan, OMG. They run, and Emma and Jacob split up from the rest to draw the hollowgast away from the others. The creature finds them, even in the sheep poo, and starts chomping to get to them. Jacob grabs some sheep shears for defense, and they run again. Jacob tries to hide in the tunnel, but a tentacle grabs him and drags him outside, Jacob manages to jab it in the eye with the shears and it dies, OMG I DIDNT REMEMBER THIS

Unfortunately, as its corpse starts sinking into the bog, it drags Jacob down with it. Emma shows up with a tree branch and saves Jacob. They find Bronwyn, Enoch, and Hugh, they say Golan took Miss Peregrine. So they decide to go after him.

Millard tries to fight him because hes invisible but he gets shot. Afraid he might die they decide to run. Bronwyn makes a shield and it works. Bronwyn whacks Glan with it. Then she ties a tourniquet around Millard's gunshot wound. Emma and Jacob go after Golan He still has bullets, so Jacob and Emma shake the lighthouse's staircase until Golan loses his balance and drops the gun. Jacob and Emma climb the stairs and find Golan at the top. He's bleeding, and the birdcage is at his feet with a little red tracking device blinking on it.

Golan explains that they are kidnapping ymbrynes to try the eternal youth thing again. After that he throws the birdcage and tries to get to Jacob, Emma burns Golan but he is stronger and starts choking her. Jacob fires the gun, right into Golan's throat; he dies and falls over the edge, OMG I DID NOT REMEMBER THIS.

Emma and Jacob search for the birdcage. They run out of the lighthouse. A wight emerges from a hatch and takes the birdcage, and the sub goes back underwater. Emma and Jacob start to swim away, but they see that Miss Peregrine somehow escaped the cage. She's bobbing in the water, with her wing broken. Unfortunately, Miss Peregrine is unable to turn back into her human form.

The kids return to the house to find it in ruins. The loop didn't loop, so the house was bombed and now it's a wreck. They decide they have no choice but to search the loops until they find Miss Avocet. But Jacob will never be able to return to the time he came from, he says he will go with them but first he says goodbye to his dad. He doesnt believe him but the others come, the dad goes into shock and passes out, they leave a letter.

Back in the loop, they bury Victor, and its so sad. Then they go in the boats to start searching for the loops

I was drawn to this book by the very mysterious cover. Did you notice that the girl wasn't touching the ground, but hovering? That is quite peculiar, indeed. The book is filled with other vintage photos that the author assures us are quite real (except for perhaps a few that have had minimal post processing work done). The pictures themselves are an integral part of the story, so I would dissuade anyone from listening to the audiobook for this reason.

I thoroughly enjoyed the protagonist of this book. Jacob felt like he was just an ordinary kid living an ordinary life. He hated his job, had no friends, and was full of that sixteen year old angst that most kids have at that age. During the mysterious adventure that takes him halfway around the world, Jacob grows into the man that he wants to be. As cheesy as it may sound, he finds his destiny, but not in the future; in the past.

There are so many labels that one could put this book into, which shows how unique it is. It covers a wide range of genres and could interest many prospective readers. If you like, mystery, paranormal, historical, contemporary, a bit of fantasy then there is something in this book for you. The writing was top notch, not dumbed down like you sometimes see in other books marketed for teens.

I really only had one problem with this book. Another dastardly cliffhanger!! This book ends with a big slap in the face, leaving me wondering "Wha...wha..what? That's not fair!" I seriously wanted more. I am happy to know that there is a sequel in the works once the author finds more of his creepy photos. I seriously applaud Mr. Riggs for giving these old and sometimes abandoned photos a new life.

Emmmm vivan los audiolibros! :D
Igual me gustó.
