audible read // I initially skipped this book because I thought it was all wedding focused. There’s actually much more that happens so I’m glad I decided to go back to it.
In this book Alex wants to marry Violet but her anxiety at being on display makes her hesitant to set a date. Alex getting seriously injured in a game taking him out for the season is the push that has her finally willing to do that.
Meanwhile she’s moving up in her job and there’s tension because Alex wants more time with her and her promotion will mean less. He has to learn and understand she wants her own identity apart from him; she wants more than to be “Alex’s wife”. That was something I really appreciated and I’m glad to see an author including that as part of the narrative.
As Alex comes to understand the pressure being put upon Violet about the wedding from their mothers, he decides to take over to calm Violet’s rising anxiety. Ultimately a spontaneous trip with friends to Vegas solves all their problems. Alex truly does just want to be married to Violet and it’s sweet how he pulls all of it together quickly for them.

I love the fact that each of these novel makes you realize how much these couples love each other. In the last two, Alex and Violet were depicted as being a weird couple, but there's an underlined love and respect that you see in the two novels dedicated to them. Love the humor again and I'm obsessed with all the characters.

2.5*. I liked it but felt that it meandered after a while dragging down the entertainment factor and so lost a star. As always the humour had me sniggering but there were times I was grossed out. TMI being shared.
