Even though I liked this book, it felt similar to the previous ones.

Theo is trying to help her brother, Pax, with his position as the CEO and the head of the Marshall family. Pax notices something unusual in the financial records so he sends Theo to investigate. Since where Theo is going is near the StoneWater clan, they send a representative with her to make sure that the Marshall family aren’t planning anything that could hurt the clan. The representative is Yakov, who realises something as soon as he meets Theo
(that she’s the one he’s been having dreams about since he was younger)

I liked Theo and Yakov, but I felt like their relationship was very similar to previous ones in the series - she feels like she doesn’t deserve to feel happy, but eventually they get together.

The plot in this book didn’t develop much. Theo and Yakov investigate the Center during the day, so they have to come back three or four times. I’m a bit bored of the Scarab Syndrome plot line so even though I do want it to be resolved, I liked that there wasn’t much mentioned about it in this book.

Yakov’s family seemed great, but they weren’t shown much. I wanted to see more scenes with Theo meeting Yakov’s clan. Also, I wanted to see Pax meeting Yakov and his family; it seemed like those chapters would have been fun. I liked Janine, but she was more of a background character.

There are also a few chapters from the POVs of Arwen and Pavel, and it shows their relationship developing. I liked seeing more of their story, but I would have liked it even more if it showed longer scenes with their families/clan.

At the beginning of each chapter, there were lots of snippets of different stories. Some were communications that talked about Theo, others were parts of the Wild Women articles, but my favourite were the letters between Denu and his sister.

I liked this book, but I’m not as excited after finishing this book as I was with some of the other books.

My favourite author and series. Absolutely loved this book and the characters, we have seen before getting their story. Now I just have to wait for the next one.

The Bears!! Oh how I love the bears! They’re my third favorite clan of changelings in these series! Finally we get Pasha and Yasha’s stories!! And their mates are pretty great. If you’re a fan of the Psy-Changeling/Trinity series, this is a must read. Some answers are given, and many of the favorite characters stop by to say hi. It’s a great book by an amazing author. The audiobook is perfect, worth waiting for!!

3 stars - I liked it

StoneWater bear Yakov Steprev has been dreaming of a psy since he was sixteen but recently those dreams have turned into nightmares of the woman's death. When he is tasked with assisting the psy in investigating a former rehabilitation center, he didn't expect to find the woman from his dreams or to be working directly with her to uncover this center's truths.

Theo grew up under the abusive hand of her councilor grandfather and was torn from her twin Pax. She has a lot of trauma and uncovers even more during her trip to the center. Theo was a woman who has spent her life trying to distance herself from her family and protect her brother. She was a very interesting character who I loved seeing open up with Yakov and the other bears. She has a lot of trauma to work through but she knows she can trust Yakov and his family and we quickly see her leaning on him for support, which I liked.

Yakov is a protective bear who is determined to protect his clan and Theo. While he recognizes the strength in Theo he can also see the pain and trauma and takes his time with her, which I loved. He was extremely sweet and kind when it came to taking care of Theo and going at her pace. Yakov and Theo’s relationship was an emotional and a bit slow building due to Theo’s trauma and Silence protocols, but still very enjoyable.

This book also gives us a side relationship with Yakov’s twin, Pavel. His and Arwen’s relationship continues in this book and it was really enjoyable to see more of these two. Also we finally got to see their mating which was so sweet and adorable.

While I did enjoy the two relationships in this book, the main overall storyline with the Psy-Net, Scarab Syndrome, and Island situation had basically no progress. We actually end up with more questions at the end of this book instead of any answers so I hope the next book will start providing some answers to some of what is happening in the Psy-Net.

CW; abusive grandfather; child abuse; unwanted medical experimentation; panic attacks; mental illness; suicide briefly mentioned;

We finally get the HEA for StoneWater bear twins, Yakov and Pavel. Although this book is mostly the story of Yakov finding his Psy mate Theodora Marshall, and the mystery of who is killing blondes in Moscow, there is plenty of room to fit in loads of Pavel and Arwen and to get them FINALLY mated.

Arwen is one of my very favorite characters, and I just love his relationship with his bear.

Theodora's childhood in the Marshall family was nothing less than horrific and the only person who kept her alive and from losing herself completely was her twin Pax. A lot of that part was hard to read, but Yakov, my heart. They are so good together. I just loved their quite love forming.

The flashbacks to Yakov's great grandfather and his sister, losing each other to Silence KILLED me. Such a good book.
