I pretty much love everything Neil Gaiman has ever done but Coraline was not my favorite - by a long shot. Maybe the audiobook version lost something but I wanted to have it all finished up before the film opened. Maybe the film will actually make me like the book more?

I always loved books with strong and brave little girls who don’t need help from anyone to defeat their adversaries. As a young girl I found Coraline inspiring because she was so determined and brave. The world needs books like these.
Also, even now that I’m older and reading it again, the other mother and her hand still make me uneasy. Maybe it’s because I’ve seen the movie and that scared me as a child, but it still makes me creeped out. Definitely a good book and an amazing author!
