The dumbest, most boring book that I’ve ever read. I’d be more mad if I paid regular price for it, but I bought it used.

This book talks about the same old things: Wake up early, get adequate sleep, don’t overuse your phone/socials, etc.

OH and she kept talking about different pieces of research but there were no citations or references? Super shitty work.

It felt like the author was stretching out the point and it was getting repetitive towards the end.

There's not a lot here. Brown does a nice job of brining in a lot of studies but I don't consider myself particularly well-versed on the topic and I had heard most of them. And I think she should have spent more time on the how and what, not the why (though I have this beef with most books of this kind - I picked the book up, I'm already sold on the concept....)

It did make me want to pick up some of her fiction, though!

I am already a "morning lark" so part of reading this was for self affirmation, but I still thought it was laid out well and the author delivered her point well.

As someone who is an early riser and does not need coffee to start my day... This is the book for me!
While I understand that Brown's systems may not work for everyone the 4% fix is definitely something that I am going to be trying out.

  • The topics in the book were actually quite broad, reference a lot of other self help books I've read already, so quite a bit of the information felt repetitive/nothing new
  • I wish it gave more concrete steps and examples (like Atomic Habits)
  • The authors stories and thoughts were interesting at least

I LOVED this book! It was very insightful and provided lots of tips for being more productive in the morning. I really like the idea of spending time in the morning to do something I love and work on something I want to improve on. For me, with school and work, etc., I find it hard to take time during the day to paint or even read a book. Although I do wake up at 5 am every day, I struggled to be productive with that time and made many excuses. After listening to the audiobook, I started setting smaller goals for the morning to support my overall goal of painting something every day.

A worthwhile read/listen with some good tips for time blocking, project management, etc., albeit at the cost of waking up a BIT earlier. (e-audiobook through NetGalley)
