I bought this book because it was cheap and there is a monkey on a bicycle on the front cover. I read it because I didn't know what to read and I asked my dad to go pick me something off my shelf. Now that I've read and really enjoyed this, I feel guilty about how we met. (book)Love works in mysterious ways, I guess, and this book shows that too.

The characters are vivid. There's something beautiful about the two homeless men, the "garden," and the little relationship they build. The climax was great, really fitting. I tend to like character-driven novels, which often sets me up for disappointment when the story fizzles at the end. But here the ending was well-planned and satisfying.

Has this guy written more stuff? I don't even know. But next time I'll be looking for his name rather than the monkey.
